"Navratri" or ''Navratra" is a combined word which means ‘nine nights’. In Navratris, during the first three

days, the goddess is invoked as a spiritual force called Durga also known as kali in order to destroy all

our impurities and vices. During the next three days, the Mother Goddess is adored as a giver of spiritual

wealth, Lakshmi, who is considered to have the power of bestowing on her devotees inexhaustible wealth. And the third set of three days is spent in worshipping the goddess of wisdom, Saraswati

In order to have all-round success in life, believers seek the blessings of all three aspects of the divine femininity, hence the nine nights of worship..followed by Musical events, Dandiya, Garba and Jagrans !

नवरात्रि व्रत कथा के अनुसार एक समय बृहस्पति जी ने ब्रह्माजी के समक्ष चैत्र व आश्विन मास के शुक्ल पक्ष में पड़ने वाले नवरात्र का महत्व जानने की इच्छा जताई, इन्होंने कहा इस व्रत का क्या फल है, इसे किस प्रकार किया जाता है? सबसे पहले इस व्रत को किसने किया? ये सब विस्तार से कहिये। बृहस्पतिजी के प्रश्नों का जवाब देते हुए ब्रह्माजी ने कहा- हे बृहस्पते! प्राणियों के हित की इच्छा से तुमने बहुत अच्छा प्रश्न किया है। जो इंसान मनोरथ पूर्ण करने वाली मां दुर्गा, महादेव, सूर्य और नारायण का ध्यान करता है, वे धन्य है। यह नवरात्र व्रत संपूर्ण कामनाओं को पूर्ण करने वाला है।

इस व्रत को करने से पुत्र सुख, धन, विद्या और सुख मिलता है। इस व्रत को करने से रोग दूर हो जाता है। घर में समृद्धि की वृद्धि होती है, बन्ध्या को पुत्र प्राप्त होता है। समस्त पापों से छुटकारा मिल जाता है। जो मनुष्य इस नवरात्र व्रत को नहीं करता वह अनेक दुखों को भोगता है। यदि व्रत करने वाला मनुष्य सारे दिन का उपवास न कर सके तो एक समय भोजन करे और दस दिन बान्धवों सहित नवरात्र
